A long 6 months
It always amazes me how fast time can fly…even when it seems to drag. Though, admittedly, the past 6 months have zipped by at warp speed.
As many of you know, this site is run almost exclusively by me and my husband. We maintain the website, write much of the content, as well as develop custom programs for use by our members. It is a major endeavor of time and energy. Most of the time we struggle to make it work, but somehow manage. However, bumps in our personal life hit us hard this past summer and we had to let things slide for a while. Regrettably, that meant many of our online projects, including Lotsofkids.
I’ve talked quite a bit about this on our forums and various postings, so I won’t go into the details more. Suffice it to say that the period was rough and we weathered through. It’s taken a good 6 months, but we are finally back on track.
Jim and I just finished a major upgrade to the site. From our users point of view, some of the pages will look a bit different, a little cleaner. From the backend, however, it’s a huge change. We have moved away from mostly HTML pages to PHP pages. That will allow us to incorporate functionality and interactivity easier. It also means less maintenance on our parts, as we can automate some of the webpage creation. Anything to make our lives easier is appreciated.
Aside from that, we have added quite a bit of content, including a handwriting sheet generator I begged Jim to write for our own family. I’m very proud how it came out.
Things are not back to normal in our parts. Far from it. Jim is still out of work and we are still struggling on the financial part. One thing that has not changed is our commitment to Lotsofkids. While our personal lives are still complicated, we are happy to get back in the saddle with the site and begin updating it regularly again. It’s something that has been sorely lacking in our lives and we are encouraged that we are back on track.
We have said it many times before, but we thank all of our visitors and friends for their support. It is deeply appreciated.
