Lotsofkids.com is always interested in articles, tips, and creative works for possible publication on the website. We are also in search of individuals who would be willing to write a regular feature (monthly, bi-monthly, etc). While we do focus on content that would be of particular interest to large families, general works by parents of many children will also be considered for addition to the website. Whether you are an accomplished writer, or just a beginner with an idea for an article, we can work with you.
We have several feature sections which we take submissions for. Below are a listing of these sections and what we are looking for:
- The Lots of Kids Journey: Parents share how they came to a the large-family mindset and grew their family accordingly. Can be musings about a certain defining moment, a retrospective, or general thoughts.
- Adventures in Homeschooling: Homeschooling parents share the ups, downs, joys and sorrows, not to mention the many rewards, of schooling their children.
- Frugal Living: Share how you have managed to maintain your household on a minimum budget. This feature also covers many of the "other" advantages of frugality, including being happy with less.
- Getting Organized: Have you come up with a system or household set-up that has helped keep you organized? Share it with our readers. If possible, photos of the project are appreciated so our visitors can see how well it has worked for you.
We are also looking for general articles on every aspect of large family life. Be it recipe compilations, parenting advice, pregnancy issues, humor, anecdotes and stories. We are also interested in short fictional works and poetry. If you are unsure if a piece would work for the site, simply send us your idea and we'll be happy to consider it.
Criteria for Submissions:
- Works must be original. Meaning you must have composed them yourself. Please do not plagarize. If there are quotations or material by other authors in your article, make sure to give appropriate credit.
- We understand that when it comes to tips and general hints, that information is in the public domain--you can't claim ownership to the idea of cleaning stains with baking soda. However, if you write an article of that nature, use your own wording/voice.
- If this will be a re-publication of your work, be sure to cite the original source.
- If your submission is for a creative work that is in the public domain, or if you are submitting it for someone other than yourself, remember we do adhere to copyright laws and must insist that submissions be approved (or give credit to) the original author.
- Submissions should be family-friendly. This site is viewed by parents and children alike. Therefore, articles should be edited to exclude profanity and other objectionable content. This guideline also includes any links you may include in your article. All outside links must be to family-safe sites/articles.
- Submissions should include a short bio or signature line. You may include a link to your site.
We apologize, but we do not offer payment for publication of works. This site is a non-commercial site which is financed 100% by the webmaster's own funds. We make no money, much less profit. We do give credit for submissions, and while authors grant Lotsofkids.com the right to publish your work for as long as our site is in existence, we do not retain exclusive right, and therefore you can submit the article to other sites or for publication. Of course, you will also get our undying gratitude for helping to support LOK.
Our goal is to work with you. We will make every effort to protect your copyrights and privacy. All submissions will remain your exclusive work until an agreement for publication has been reached.
